Interview with Sem Kamona, a former intern

Sem Kamona who is studying automotive and engine engineering in the 4th semester at the University in Stuttgart finished his 14 weeks long internship at Hydropneu. He was working in our technical department for 12 weeks and the other two weeks he was helping in our production. Miss Julia Hellstern reports about his time at Hydropneu - She is currently studying communication science in the 7th semester at a University in the US.

Sem Kanoma was heartily welcomed during his search for an internship
Sem who is living in Ruit became aware of our company during his search in the nearby industry area. He was visiting different companies in person to apply for an internship. Hydropneu was one of the companies. “I rang the door and asked if Hydropneu was looking for an intern, I was heartily welcomed and I handed my application in later” says Sem in excitement.

Internship in the construction department
Sem started his internship in the construction department where the engineers were trying their best to realize the needs of the customers. “I could follow all the single steps and which thoughts must be made, not only in the construction, to fulfil the customer’s wishes” said Kamona. He realized that there is a huge difference between the theoretical learning process at the University and the real possibilities in the companies. “At the University we are planning our projects without any budget limit - it must work. The price doesn’t matter and we don’t care about the manufacturing process in a real company. At Hydropneu I learnt, that this is not the case and that they must consider the costs, to manufacture a relatively cheap hydraulic cylinder for example”: says Sem.

Internship in the production

In the second part of his internship at Hydropneu Sem Kamona was involved in the implementation process of the previously designed concepts. “In the production I saw how the hydraulic cylinders were produced and assembled after the sketches and how the theoretical thoughts from the construction department were realized. This gave me a completely different sight of how a product is made”: answered Sam. The biggest positive aspect were the kind colleagues When asked, what the biggest positive aspect in his internship was, Sem answered: “The kind employees, this was the biggest plus at Hydropneu. Everybody knows everyone, because the company is not that big.

We wish Sem Kamona all the best for his future!
